Hire a self propelled mulcher at $300/hr for a day or two and be done with it. Or you can take the trees off, maybe would mulch faster with only stumps. Would be like they were never there.
Cheap way I guess would be cut all the stumps low, unroll hay there all winter, broadcast seed, see what comes up.
