Milford, IL | Agree. Getting to be ancient history now, but having been around both when they were new the pre-AFM 5.3 was an outstanding engine and the 5.4 was just okay. They really did sometimes unprovoked spit out a spark plug and the threads too.
If you asked them both to pull something, they both perform like naturally aspirated gasoline engines - but the 5.3L kind of pulled hard when the operator mashed the go pedal, the 5.4L just sort of wheezed. | |
