Faunsdale, AL | I bought the cheapest hydraulic crimper on eBay. It has the C shaped body. Less than $25 now. I bought mine several years ago and paid more like $30. The dies are marked in some sort of metric numbers but I have been able to crimp every size of battery cable I’ve run across. Might not have tried a 3-O.
If you want to do the job correctly buy some shrink tubing to put over it when you’re finished. I have also put copper antiseize on the strands before slipping the terminal on and crimping. That is my attempt to ensure there won’t ever be corrosion in the crimp.
My terminals come from a local parts house. They keep a selection of copper and tin plated copper terminals. The tinned ones are probably better but frequently don’t have one the size I’m looking for so I use whatever I have available.
