Subject: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 parts problem

Chebanse, IL.....

Duramax 3.0L (diesel) 2023 model, engine coolant control valve......problem?

Anyone else having trouble getting a replacement engine coolant control valve from Chevrolet? We have one that sets off check engine light and detunes to the point of "limiting passing ability...". Also can't use remote start (check engine light is on) and it kicks out the cruise control occasionally.

Chevrolet Part # 40009452 shows as national back order. Been that way for a couple weeks. Pretty sure it's just the 3.0 motor only.

Why does it seem to me that mfg should be able to steal those valves off the assembly line to support their broken trucks?

Following message is from Google:

A common problem with Chevrolet Silverado trucks is a faulty engine coolant control valve, particularly in models with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine (LM2), where the valve can malfunction due to issues like corrosion on the connector terminals, leading to a check engine light and potential performance issues; this is often accompanied by a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2B60, indicating a problem with the Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Position Sensor Circuit.
Key points about the Chevrolet Silverado engine coolant control valve problem:
  • Affected models:
Primarily seen in Silverado trucks with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine (LM2), particularly in newer model years.
  • Symptoms:
    • Check engine light illuminated
    • Diagnostic trouble code P2B60
    • Engine overheating issues in some cases
    • Reduced engine power
  • Cause:
    • Corrosion on the connector terminals of the coolant control valve actuator harness
    • Internal mechanical failure of the valve due to wear and tear
  • Diagnosis and repair:
    • Check for corrosion on the connector terminals of the coolant control valve
    • If corrosion is present, replace the connector harness
    • If no corrosion is found, test the valve functionality and replace it if necessary
