Subject: Case 1200 Spring Time Repairs

SW Iowa

Just looking for some input on what people prioritize for repairs and upgrades on their planter but also more specifically a Case 1200PT bulk fill with split rows. I am very young so upgrades like precision planting, row cleaners, and closers aren't very feasible, especially with split rows. Typically I have just ensured the row units are tight and fit specs such as firming points, shoes, and openers are all in good shape. Beyond that, I'm not sure if I am leaving money on the table by not repairing but also not sinking a huge investment in a nearly 20-year-old planter. I know it is location dependent too but things like gauge wheel arms being loose, row closer guides worn, and press wheels not being firm. How impactful are the parts beyond the critical ones that get the seed placed in a uniform trench?

To get to the point in order what are your priorities in repairing your planter for corn and soybeans in rolling hill black dirt?

So far I have found this video very helpful. https://youtu.be/_G_1Bb2M5Jc?si=D0SCj09LNYrtuHet
