I just stumbled on this thread tonight. Very interesting in several areas. 

But it is especially refreshing to finally hear about the benefits of mycorrhizae (fungus) in soils and also someone discussing what seems to me to be the rampant use of fungicides on crops in recent years, often without real evidence of need.

And we wonder why some (many?) heavily farmed soils appear dead and lifeless?
