Central ND | There are probably 5 different version of a 5.4 engine. Different heads and timing hardware and valve configurations. Some are known for issues and others are not.
My 2000 f 150 had 292,000 miles on it. Its been a pretty good old truck for something that has had the guts pulled out of it at times.. Repairs have been the plastic intake/ water manifold (cracked and leaked water on the ground) that have been replaced as well as exhaust manifolds and studs, changed out a few coil packs and several spark plug changes. The timing has never been opened up, nor the oil pan, and none of the valve covers or heads ever been removed. It's never had a spark plug spit out or never had one twisted off in the head either.I did change water pump once. | |
