Subject: RE: County solar farm ordiance

South Central MN
Our county used to require a bond for dismantling but given the length of the contract and no real way to keep track of whether a bond stays in place we changed it to an escrow account. We set it at 45 k for a small one megawatt setup. Don’t know it that’s enough but the solar companies didn’t bat an eye at it. I bet they would do more. We also require that tile lines are located and repaired or avoided.
If neighbors complain we usually require some trees get planted . I’m not really a huge proponent of that cause it will take several years to get them high enough to help and I also know that trees and tile don’t mix. Also trees and crops don’t really mix either, branches falling into the field and outcompeting nearby crops for water
