The rail acts as a giant piece of rebar, tying the whole thing together. I thought I had pics of it all formed up before crete, but I can’t find them. It’s about 6-7” of concrete with rebar on 12” centers going all the way under the rail. The first ones we did were about 10 years ago and with all the freezing and thawing here, I have yet to see a crack. The front edge entrance is about 2-3” tall, but what I like about the rail is it will never fall off. We have an old Quonset that the angle iron on edge has rusted and fallen off. My great grand kids will be gone before the rail ever starts showing any signs of decay.
