I just don’t think Christianity can be boiled down to the abortion issue alone. Did Jesus say the two main things are to love God and love your neighbor? Is loving your neighbor shipping them back to the gang infested country of Honduras? For the record, I’m pro life. But do you really think Jesus’ teaching align with mass deportation?
The problem here is that you are mixing the two kingdoms.
The kingdom of this world I would feel that Jesus would give
authority to send them back to Honduras as cruel as it would seem.
The Old Testament was the letter of the law and justice.
The New Testament is mercy and love and the Kingdom of heaven
And no, if I am part of this Kingdom I cannot in good conscience send them back.
So yes I would understand that as an elected official the government would have a duty to do what they need to do to protect their country.
Maybe someone that is better with words then I am can explain it better. |
