I've got a few pairs of what I'd call heavy, hunting style alpaca socks. I can get by with uninsulated boots when wearing those socks down to about 10* F. That's standing still for the most part calling coyotes at night. If I'm moving consistently, there's no need for insulated boots. I've been very happy with them.
