| I put in a heated 24'x24' concrete slab on the north side of my house since it would not see any sun in the winter here in east central Illinois. We poured concrete about 5-6"thick and put the plastic lines about 14-16" apart, and ran them about 15' inside the garage to a small electric 220 volt micro boiler and through a adjustable Flo pump. ALL in All it works ok, temperature in mid 20's and under 6" snow you can see the loops melting it off after a couple hours when it's been shut off. One mistake we made was we put 2" high density blue foam under it, thinking it might retain its own heat. WRONG, this prevents the ground heat from warming the pad, and now this pad is the first thing to frost over. It would not be a problem if it was left on continuously, but When you listen to the boiler turning on and off all the time, I am not going to pay the high bills, so Im just use it when needed. | |
