I think you have opened another "Ag Talk Approval" method or practice. Working in the bin with the bottom & sweep auger running practice will fall in line with....
Auger....in or out on combine while harvesting. Auger....in or out on grain cart while harvesting. Seat belts....tractors, wear them or not? Plug in block heaters....or not? Tighten wheels without torquing..yes/no? Distilled water or RO water for batteries? Over-center binders or ratchets for chain tie-downs? Get rid of all dangerous NH3 in lieu of safe UAN? Wear your cap while eating at a table, or remove cap?
Probably lots more than I can think of right now. Should probably be a separate thread. But, we have some bins that will your method will work, and some that it won't. Soybeans with power sweeps don't work as well as corn when letting the sweep make a pass with no one helping. If we did that with beans, it would take a couple hours to load 1000 bu. We have probably 12 bins with power sweeps of various ages up to 1 yr old. But, I'll say getting in the bin is something that has danger about it, as do about 10000 other things on most farms. |
