coast of Maine | The solution is...what has to be done to protect from falls is stockpile a sand /salt mix.I usually put up 35 yards or so of sharp sand mixed with a few 100 lbs of road salt. The salt is to keep pile from turning into frozen like concrete.Spread with your tractor bucket.A shovel too if you want to conserve or cover walk ways.A poly sheet or tarp needs to cover pile unless you have a place in the shed.I have a farmer friend whom refuses to sand.Said something about liability of not doing a good job.??So I was talking to him on a cell call one day ,,he was walking in his yard and he dumped it over on ice.I gave him crap.Last winter was a very mild one and used a very tiny amount.Been years I ran out.In the spring you can use that sharp sand left over for road repairs etc.Falls are quite serious for your family/employees.Emergency room admissions for broke bones sky rockets in snow storms. In Maine most towns allow taxpayers access to the town sand pile with 5 gallon bucket limits for home owners.Been times at home when snow falls in early november andnever leaves mid april,,el sucko | |
