We have a driveway/sidewalk ice melt set up in the holding area of our parlor/dairy barn. Uses temp sensors in the slab and the outside temp to just keep the ice off. Works well and doesn't take as much energy as you would think because it only heats enough to keep it right at freezing. Avoid one injury from a fall would pay for its use on a sidewalk for a lifetime.
