Subject: Dtawbar engineering

NW Iowa
Looking to make a stronger drawbar for an articulating 4wd tractor. Currently have a 5" wide by 3" thick solid bar of 1045 steel and it bent. Wanted to go 6" wide by 4" thick, but was told no 1045 just hot rolled. Hired guy thought 14" wide by 3" thick would be stronger than 6x4. Any of you know how to calculate wider and thinner strength vs narrower and thicker in different types of metals? Thank you
