At the Deere assembly factory they had a 6 foot wide sidewalk that ran up a steep hill to the employee parking lot,it would be perfectly dry and have a foot of snow 6 inches away. As long as the sidewalk was above freezing when snowing it would stop accumulation.Not sure if they cranked it up just when snow was forecast or if they kept it on low all the time. When I was a kid there was a doctor in town that had a boiler and radiators in the house and some pipes under the driveway but only used it a few years because of boiler size he couldn't heat both the house and driveway
