Been said many times, too much focus on terminal trails at the expense of reproductive/maternal traits, and milk production isn't a maternal trait but a growth trait.
If anything I’ve pushed far more maternal the last 5-8 years instead of terminal. Moderate cows that grow good calves but not monsters. Brought my average cow size from 1600 lb simmentals/chars to 1400 lb angus crosses. Open rates with the old genetics used to be lower so it’s all ass backwards.
