Walnut Grove MN USA | As I read your post I kept thinking that this guy is focused on the wrong things and let opportunities slip by. Please don’t take anything I say as an insult, it is not meant that way. I roomed with 3 engineers in college and have a minor in engineering so I have just enough knowledge to make me dangerous! I also realized that smart people can get lazer focused and completely miss the big picture. What happened in the past is done and over with and hopefully you learned the hard lessons. First you said yourself land is stupid high, that means you should be selling it if you’re not making money off of it. That will provide money for your living situation. Heck maybe a 1031 exchange would work good here, could put you in a nice place. Second there is always demand for CNC operators or any machine operators. If you are as good as you say you will move up fast in a larger company. Third sell your equipment, even if it means taking a loss. You’re not doing it or yourself any good by holding onto it, you can always buy more later on, probably newer and better. I know a guy that owns multiple city lots in two different towns. One has a house on it all remodeled while he lives in a house that isn’t his and he refuses to sell any of it. Two lots in a different town are empty so he has to care for them and people have offered to buy and he won’t sell. He bought an old car to restore where most of the hard work was already done but now it just sits in pieces in a garage somewhere and he has nowhere to work on it nor the ambition. I told him sell your empty lots and put up a small shop which his one son was all for since he is a mechanic but he won’t. As soon as he is gone his sons will sell it all. He is in his early 80’s so I understand not wanting to do too much but he could be living better and leave less for his sons to deal with after he is gone. There is a way out of your mess but you have to make those first steps and adapt as life goes along. | |
