My old, wise neighbor years ago (he passed away some time ago) made me promise to always shut down bin sumps so the opening was less than half the size of my foot before I went into the bin. Even the center one, as I put in the carry in sweep auger. Said if I slip, at least my foot/leg won't get eaten by the auger. Yes, it takes longer before you can put the sweep in, but might be worth it. Insisted that all intermediate sumps were closed down to a sliver if open at all, once the sweep went in. | |
