An inauguration likely won’t be as impactful as you imply. Traders aren’t going to be surprised Trump gets inaugurated. It may be used by some as the reason for whatever the market does on Tuesday depending what it does. But unless there is a USDA report should be a normal trading day with gamblers either adding longs or taking profits from Friday. It’s another heads or tails day. Momentum is higher ATM but can switch at any second. If it was a true market we wouldn’t see such big basis losses offsetting recent gains. Sell what you think is the high for futures and set basis after a pullback. Easy to say, but luck will determine how well we do it. We call it “marketing” because it makes us feel better than saying we are guessing or gambling. It is what it is but I don’t think you can do anything today regardless. Put in an “on the open” order and take your chances. Or wait until Tuesday. It’s simple.
