Middlesex County, Ontario | We've had an electric EZGO and a gas Yamaha. Both are fine. With regular water maintenance on the batteries they lasted 10 years. The gas Yamaha doesn't use very much gas but it doesn't have a fuel gauge so family members have been stranded on it more often than the electric. The gas is faster.
I always feel a little bit bad for the gas golf cart engines. Constantly starting and stopping, never getting up to temp, full throttle right after starting. It doesn't seem to bother them any but it just hurts me a little to do that to them. I don't have that feeling with the electric. The electric is more relaxing to me for that reason.
If you get an electric one then I recommend getting an on board charger. That way you can pull up to any 120v outlet to charge.
