SE IL | Early beans for sure have more potential, especially when you start talking 75+ for yields. We have had great early beans and also some disappointing ones if they get pounded with rain, come up and take off growing poorly. In 24 my best beans were planted June 7, a few bushels better than May 12, 22 and 31 plantings. To be fair the best were on the best dirt though, so I would say the planting date was a wash “here” in 24. Sometimes a guy needs to consider harvest timiliness into yield. Easy to get the early ones right when they are ready at 12-13 moisture. As you get to the later ones seems like here they are over ripe and too dry. Could be 3-5 bu difference in yield from 9% beans to ones cut at 13%. | |
