You say you have good family...would they have a place for your equipment? I understand that they would not want your equipment taking over their buildings, but you said you have a machine that could turn out $800 an hour in production. Would there be room to have that set up somewhere to get a revenue stream going? If you have a job that takes 40 hours a week, would you have enough extra time to run the machine to justify it? Would your family let you work for them most of the time, and run that machine in your spare time? If you could generate 'some' revenue with it, perhaps it could lead to them letting you run it more in the slow season, and either doing a few jobs for free or giving a share of the profits for use of building space.
If you don't want to work for the family, surely there are jobs out there. Around 'here' anyone that can run a CNC machine is in high demand. Those who truly are good at it, earn good money, generally with room for advancements. If you have designs that are valuable, would an established machine shop take you on, then make some of those products, and split the profits in some way? These are just spitballs, only you know your family situation and the job market for machinists in your area, so only you can answer those questions.
I'm reading that you were chasing your dream, and more or less after Covid hit, it now seems unattainable. It also seems like you are looking at it in a way that you have to do everything yourself. Perhaps looking at ways to partner with someone would be the best. Granted you'd have to share profits, but if it gets things off the ground quicker, it allows for more time for growth, as well.
Good luck, I hope things work out for you. | |
