| You guys bad mouth hay rings, but with the right rings, right management there can be very little waste, the paddocks where I bale graze I can go in and drag in the spring with a spring tooth drag set so it scratches the surface and not plug up, this is with feeding between 20-30 4x6 bales per acre. The waste in my system comes from storing bales outside, but I do not think that hay storage would save enough to pay for storage, the waste and hassle. Now my feeding cost more then you guys feeding on stocks or feeding stockpiled grass, I do not have stalks and in this climate I do not believe that stockpiling grass is a viable option for the entire winter. | |
