I’ve always looked at extended warranty as an insurance product. The insurance companies who underwrite the policies have all the data and know what parts fail during the life cycle of a vehicle. Those items plus normal wear parts are exemptions in the fine print.
It is a product designed and sold to make a profit
Personally I would never buy an extended warranty
