Sounds like typical CEO attitude, do anything to get ahead short term and make the paper look good, and when the issues arise they are already at the next "bigger" job.
Treat people like they are disposable and that's what u will attract.
Now I could be wrong and they just got rid of some bad eggs and this is an easy way to do that as well.
