Iowa | Got this email and a text message with something similar after layoffs announced. I 've got a meeting Monday with my rep to finalize pre pay stuff. May be interesting.
Dear Landus Farmer-Owners,
Yesterday, we made important changes to our personnel and design that are aimed at improving our ability to grow and reduce inefficiencies. While change is often difficult, it is sometimes necessary to create the foundation for future growth and success.
At Landus, we are positioning ourselves to be the ag retailer of tomorrow. We’ve been preparing for this transition for more than a year now. If you’ve been engaged with us during this time—whether through employee discussions, Innovation Connector events, or other touchpoints—you’ve heard me speak about our commitment to evolving to the next level. This is a critical moment in that journey, and we’re excited about the possibilities it brings.
Unfortunately, those outside of Landus assumed that these changes were due to financial issues, mergers, buy-outs, and beyond. I’m here to tell you that’s absolutely not the case.
You’re going to hear more about what’s ahead soon, but let’s take a moment to look at what we’ve done to prepare for this moment:
New streams of profit to our farmer-owners, including $400,000 in sustainability payouts from 2024, with $2M more to come in 2025
A new path to farmer health coverage, saving our farmer-owners thousands of dollars annually
Exclusive green ammonia production with facilities in Boone, Eagle Grove, and Manning that will reduce the cost of corn production for our farmer-owners by up to $100/acre
More than $300M in investments to our farmer-owners’ insights and infrastructure in the last three years with nearly $30M this fiscal year, which has improved grain basis in most of these communities like: Hamlin, Yetter, Rake, Early, & Mitchellville
Bringing the power back to our farmer-owners by monetizing data with new monies
Improved relationships with our worldwide partners, including railroad relationships, to ensure our farmer-owners have more access to worldwide markets and profitability than ever before
We’ve accomplished so much, but there’s work left to be done to allow us to become the ag retailer of tomorrow for the farmer of tomorrow and this next step is the hardest. So we made the difficult changes, like good companies do. This is about the journey forward, nothing else.
We are grateful to our employees’ contributions to Landus, and those that parted ways with us yesterday were given severance packages and job placement services.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to serving you today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
