North of London | A real story that lines up with that.
Many years ago my wife worked as evening supervisor in local hospital and was in charge of ER at the same time this being a small town hospital
When a patient arrived she had to decide if 'a bandage and send home' was adequate or did she need to call in the doctor that was on call.
One night a little before her shift ended at 11pm a neighbour farmer arrived with a bloody handkerchief wrapped around his hand.
She looked at the hand and called the doctor to come in to sew him up
She had to tell the doctor farmer had cut it at 2 pm
Doc said if he waited that long have him come into office in morning.
She said no doctor this needs attention NOW he cut it while combining his edible beans and finished field before coming in
