That's awesome. When he started buying land in the 30s it was probably $50 an acre. That's $1500 today. What if land was $750 an acre back when he started? The timing doesn't matter anymore when the price is so outrageous and you can't dollar cost average your way into it like the stock market. You either buy the piece or you don't. A guy working a good town job and renting 200 acres probably can't save enough money in a lifetime to buy an 80 in cash. Actually quick math it would take 30 years, saving 50% of your take home on a $70k salary and averaging $100 net an acre on the rental ground to buy an 80 at $18k in cash.
