Sorry I'm late to the party. I found a 1974 photo of the brand new 555 engine being hoisted into the engine compartment for the first time. That's Bill Duffer, our hired man at the time, running the hoist. In the photo, you can see the adapter plate that Dad made to adapt the Cummins bellhousing to John Deere's bolt pattern. Dad ordered the 555 with a marine oil pan (the shallowest option from Cummins), but he still had to modify the floor of the engine compartment to clear the oil pan.
