MN | Electric service construction is part of the total cost. I have one single and one 3 phase setups. The single phase power is cheaper because of the fees that get tacked on to the3 phase service. Short term I see no advantage to 3 phase. Maybe slight disadvantage. long term they say 3 phase. We will see. I pumped 5 acre-in of water this last year on the 3 phase system and half the yearly bill is just service fees. The utility cost was $5.82 per acre-in this last year. I don’t have it broke out by system. The motor size is all determined by volume of water pumped per minute by depth of well by pressure needed in pipe furtherest uphill to get pivot to function properly. I went new because I have 25 years left in my career should see very little repairs in that time. I went with valley because of the servicing dealer and they make a nice product. Here it is easy to spend 75-100k just on the well and utility construction for 75-150 acre pivots. We wet as many acres as possible to get cost per acre down. Over watering from end gun over spraying or a couple nozzles is not a huge cost. Overspray on roads is a big deal.
