EC SoDak | Agreed, mine is about 15 years old and bought it used, I believe 6 or 7 years old. But I did the same with a 4410 Patriot before that. My previous gen started with a tractor with a 3 point sprayer, then a pickup with a skid, then a homemade self propelled they made, then a rogator, then a Patriot.
8000 acres of ground with a 50/50 split essentially in my scenario
8k/ac for corn
18k/ac for beans
26k acres sprayed yearly
Some folks I chat with that run older sprayers figure $1/ac for their rig without major repairs.
I suppose the question becomes, with something as time critical as spraying, especially with non gmo crops, what’s the risk of a breakdown worth to you? Ie a 20 year old rig, 15, 5, brand new? For me, I figure get a rig with 1500-2k hours, run it to 4-5k, then rinse, lather, and repeat.
