I can cut back on my other costs, equipment can last for years without being traded, a lot of folks can grow 200+ bushel corn with cheaper seed, generic chemicals are much cheaper than name brand, etc….
But good land is hard to come by, and so are good landlords. If you have the opportunity to match mortgage/rental costs with current markets then you should, but that typically isn’t the easiest route
Imagine owning a rental house and your tenant showing up and asking you to lower the rent because they can’t afford it, all the while they have a new $100k Escalade in the driveway
It’s the same for landlords of farm land. You complain to them about the price of their land while you order a new X9 1100 combine with massage seat and I doubt they’re going to budge an inch
