Southern Missouri | The annual Mecum Florida auction going on , the last Thursday Friday and Saturday of the sale is when the big boys play , you can tell the Dow is in the 40 s and nasdaq near 20 , sold some nice stuff today , several 175000 plus cars , Friday all evening and Saturday pretty much all day on motor trend TV . I was 8 years old when my 18 year old brother had talked my dad into ordering a 66 impala super sport convertible, light blue with white convertible top , small block 4 speed , I was riding on cotton picker with said 18 year old brother knowing dad had went to go get it , dad came into the drive and the old one row international picker found road gear and headed to the house , laid the top back , put a Neil Sedaka tape in the 8 track and took off to town , brother let me ride along , went to every gas station in town . I’m surprised I can remember it so vividly, soon be 60 years ago | |
