| The Granite work bench was a joke, merely trying to convey that extras eat money fast. I live in a high snow load area, so it needs to be better built structurally than other places. To me, basic means excavated, concrete floor, framed, sided, roofed , electrical (including the power feed ), insulation, heating system, all done with decent quality materials. Yes, you can do any, or all of these things yourself, to save money. Most builders use a pretty good SWAG system of estimating, using the system that materials will cost 1/3 the total cost, labor will eat the other 2/3. | |
