For us, starter (meaning in furrow) with some sort of phosphorus has never paid, no matter how low or high soil test P was. If you are talking some sort of 2x2 system, then applying nitrogen with the planter has always had a nice return. Keep in mind that our soils likely warm up much quicker than most.
