50 years ago...........as a young kid..........I was a Vikings fan. Have pictures of me in the jacket to prove it!

Go Fran Tarkenton!!!!!!!!!!

I was a Vikes fan too, had jacket, cap, piggy bank and other stuff. Got to meet several of them, I think one was Matt Blair at a charity basketball game. Go Joe Kapp.

If you think qb is the only problem we have then that’s part of the problem, the last two games the o line has not shown up at all, I’m not saying darnold is the answer, but it goes a lot deeper than just the qb position. O’Connell needs to give up play calling and be a better game manager, defense needs to be able to get pressure with rushing only 4 instead of blitzing all the time and leaving the secondary exposed, these are all thing that great teams can do.

He's right on the edge of top 20. Just a quick glance I'd say 18th or 19th out of current starting QB's today. Not counting the hurt QB's. Add in the hurt guys and he falls out of the top 20.

Possibly Josh Allen? Over and over again Aikman commented on him stepping up in the pocket.

Going forward id take Prescott, Pennix, young, nix, jackson, mahomes, Allen, burrow, stroud, Herbert, love, Purdy, hurts, Stafford, goff, maye, Daniel's. Thats 17. Tua has head issues so that's tougher. We'll see how caleb Williams looks if he ever gets in a decent situation. Rodgers would probably be good enough for 1 year. So I would give him between the 15th and 20th best option in the league. Far from a great QB.

I do like Burrow he did carry the bengals on his back this year , Herbert? Did you watch the playoff game against the Texans? I believe he was 14-32 for 242 yards 1 td and 4 int one for a pick 6 nothing to write home about, actually makes darnold look decent.

If you judge any player on a one game performance you could trash them all. Peyton Manning passed the most passing yards of all time mark in a game with my Broncos where he had several interceptions and threw for something like 13 yards before they set him down to rest.

I’m not judging on just one game, Herbert kind of reminds me of Brett Favre, fun to watch until he ain’t, as far as manning great stats but was constantly out played by the New England defense for years none the less he has a lot of stats but only two rings, it would be interesting to see if Manning was the Qb on the the belechick patriot teams to see if he could have won more championships.

Youre delusional... Dak has a 2-5 post season record and isnt great, Penix has started 3 games..., Nix is one season in and doesnt have great stats and yet you think hes top 20. Maye has played 1 season and has 15tds and 10 picks...yet you think hes better than darnold...

Mahones, allen, burrow, stafford and lamar are in that elite QB category. Goff, stroud, herbert, purdy, hurts, mayfield, and daniels are all in that same category as darnold. Everyone else is below them.

If youre a minnesota fan that really telling, you guys finally get a decent QB and have a great season, but as soon as its over you want to point fingers and get rid of decent players and attempt to try out rookies or unproven players that never end up panning out. If Minnesota decides to not go with Darnold theyll be back in the basement of the NFC north for the next 3 years.

After the last two games Darnold's asking price certainly dropped a whole lot. If he's cheap enough then sign him for a couple years and spend money on the offensive line. Yeah, the Vikings didn't go very far, but what the heck, they did better than anyone was expecting. However, instead of giving out gold stars for barely won games that they should have won easily, they need someone to start kicking their butts and not accept mediocre play. That's the only way they're going to beat teams like Detroit.

I believe 2 for sure, maybe 3 of those picks were on the receivers. Even though they were tips or drops, the quarterback gets the stat. I did think Herbert would have showed better than he did. I thought Houston was done the way they finished the season.

Really good year for the Vikes honestly. 14-4 and only lost to 2 teams, the Lions and Rams.

Unfortunately, we played them back to back twice. I was hopeful that this second Rams game would go better, as the Vikes lost a hard fought game on Sunday in October and then had to play the Rams on a short week Thursday game. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and it appears the Vikes don't match up well with those teams. They had the personnel to exploit the Vikings weaknesses. The Vikings didn't adjust like I thought they would for the second game.

I thought that "incomplete pass" that wiped the TD off the board was a gut punch. LA came out fast, their city is burning and there was a lot of emotion. It was 10-0 quick. Vikes got a FG to make it 10-3, and if that TD stands and it's 10-10 it may have gone differently. They would have "weathered the storm" of emotions and may have settled them down some. No way of knowing for sure, but I do believe in momentum.

Pre-Season win total was at 6.5 wins...they more than doubled it. But as the season progresses expectations change. Wish I could have enjoyed the season a little longer, but hoping for another great season eventually. They'll take a step back next year, because that's what they do, but maybe in 3-5 years they can let me down again.

Sorry for the delay, dang hay hauling getting in the way of my football talk. I'm a Brady fan. He's the GOAT. Happen to believe Belichik rode his coattails. Manning was the Broncos nemesis, so I never enjoyed him playing for us. How do you root against someone for 10 years and then all of the sudden cheer for them?

I realize any top 4 list is subjective, but mine is...

1. Brady
2. Montana
3. Elway
4. Manning

Anything beyond that I come up with a cluster of names.

He was available for 10 mil because he had played on nothing but terrible teams before, just like Baker Mayfield. The Bucs picked him up cheap that first year because of his past. Its the exact same situation that Darnold was in. You don't luck your way into 14 wins in a season with a average or below average QB. If JJ had started this year like he was suppose to the vikings would have probably had less than 8 wins. If the Vikings decide to go with JJ next year its likely they're a 8 win team at best.

Sorry for the long delay, I actually like your list of top qb’s I’ll admit I’m not a huge Peyton manning fan, always felt he kind of rode Archie’s legacy, I will admit manning could definitely break down stuff and was very good at selling his point. Always loved Montana and elway, I’m glad elway finally won the super bowls it really cemented his legacy. I’m also a fan of Brady, was a selfless player who would do anything to help his tam win.

Don’t forget $20 some million to Jones. Vikings don’t have the money to bring back Sam.

I just flat out don’t understand how teams pay big money for one or two players, than wonder why other positions struggle.

Jones was a 1 year 7M deal. Vikings are in great shape with the cap actually. They got some pro bowl players pretty cheap.

Randy Moss made a whole bunch of average QBs look very, very skilled. Lots of DBs thought they were fast until they lined up 8 yards off and still got beat deep, fun to watch.

I agree with that. Same way that J.J. (John Jefferson) made Fouts look so good for the Chargers back in the day. I always thought Moss and Jefferson were surely the best pure receivers in the NFL. Just throw it up.........and let em go get it!

Went as expected. My opinion is the NFL wants the Chiefs and either a west or east coast team in the Super Bowl. A Super Bowl with both teams from the middle of the country is not as profitable as their darling chiefs and a coast team. I fully expect the Rams will be the team.

I never said to a 4 or 5 year deal. Id put the franchise tag on him and then work it out. Can anyone tell me the last time the queens had 14 wins in a season?

My point is darnold is a known, and after those last two games hes gotten a little cheaper than if he would have played like the other 16 games this season. They have a good team now, why go into rebuild mode with a new QB when you have jefferson ect. JJ isnt going to lead the vikings to 14 wins darnold did.

It really amazes me the stupidity of the vikings fans who always want to get rid of known and good players to go to unknowns...thats really worked out well for the Browns...

Yes, I would, why wouldn't you? He led the Vikings to 14 wins...the most since they've had since 1998. These last 2 games they've gone up against arguably the best 2 teams in the NFL this season. The Vikings have a team capable of going to the playoffs again next year with Darnold, cant say the same thing with JJ, he's going to struggle in the NFL. I'd gladly spend that money to have 12-14+ win season vs a 6-7 win season. Again if the queens go with a rookie and theres bad play Jefferson and other players are going to want out of Minnesota as well.

Because of the 40+ mil it will cost you to sign him. The Rams are so good they will get beat this week end.

Now if they take the money they save on Darnold and shore up their interior offensive line and resign their free agents on defense they have a decent chance to get beyond the wild card round of the playoffs.

I agree that Darnold and the offensive line needs to improve to get the team into the playoffs. The business questions the Vikings mgmt need to ask is #1--who could they hire for QB that would be guaranteed to be better than Darnold, and #2--how much more would that cost/would it be worth it? If the Vikings had a so-so season then it would be easy to dump Darnold and rebuild with their young QB that they acquired in the draft. People forget how many teams don't even get into the playoffs and how few QBs become great players. Yeah, the Vikings likely won't be going to the SuperBowl any time soon, especially when Detroit is performing at the level they are this season. But I'd sooner watch a Darnold led team that has the potential to win a lot of games than watch a team struggle to win half their games with a new young QB that gets schooled by the rest of the NFL veteran teams for the next few years. I was pleasantly surprised how the Vikings went out and acquired free agents to fill in gaps due to injuries, etc this season, I think that's why they finished with the record they had instead of just sitting on their hands and blaming a poor season on injuries.
