We upgraded from a junky Monoprice one to a Prusa MK4S last fall.  My son has used it to print things for his robotics club and a few gadgets.  Its not a big printer but it is very precise.....and half the fun was assembling it.  They also make larger units.  There are a lot of good articles and reviews online about the new printers.
