And lack of drinking from cobbett allows it to freeze more than you like.
BTW - when was it installed? I heard that it takes upto6-12 months to make the earth heat to work properly. Soil needs to settle to conduct heat; a air gap is a insulator.
It's been there several years.
Another one on this farm is trouble in the summer time. Cows drink it down and the ball gets wedged between/under the inlet water line/float assembly and the side wall somehow so it doesn't shut off. Costly problem on rural water!!! It was froze shut yesterday so I didn't worry about it since it's further away from the cows. |
