I will disagree on the field goal argument. You won’t beat Detroit with field goals and O’Connell knew that. Give Detroit credit they executed their game plan on defense and Darnold looked tight all night. The Vikings will not sign him back for next season. McCarthy is their future quarterback and the money they save will be used to shore up their weaknesses that show against really good teams like Detroit.
