Wash is done in the smaller right side which is probably"normal" size and the left one is for clean dishes and it's nice having lots of room to place and stack on the clean side like big pots, pans, and wine glasses.
Yes, dispenser has hand soap in it. Never thought about putting dish soap in it and that's an interesting idea.
