There is one restaurant that charges 3% that I go to eat. The card pays 3%. So even.

The card is easier than carrying a lot of cash. Someone steals or you lose cash, it is gone. CC gives you options.

Target is doing this too.
As of December 2024, Walmart stores in Texas have enacted a new policy restricting cash purchases, specifically refusing to accept "mutilated" or damaged bills.

The policy applies to all denominations of U.S. currency, from $1 bills to $100 bills. Under this new directive, any bill deemed torn, excessively wrinkled, faded, or otherwise damaged will not be accepted by retailers in Texas.
