Subject: RE: Michigan land rent termination laws

North Central Illinois
I'd start with a response along the lines of "per our discussion on date ____, I made business plans to farm said land for the 2025 crop year since Michigan law requires termination of existing leases prior to date _____. Seeing as we are past the legally required termination date I intend to fulfill my commitments as outlined in our existing lease agreement unless a mutually agreeable buyout is negotiated. Given my already incurred expenses and anticipated margins I would be willing to relinquish my tenancy rights and already applied inputs for the summer of $___/acre." Sometimes people just don't know what the rules are. I've seen that before.
