SW OH | This is very accurate advice. 10 or 15 years ago the local pound, (they prefer humane society but not very humane, run by the county) had a litter of black lab puppies. I tried to get one and I filled out the paperwork honestly. When they looked at it they went straight to the middle of the second page where I had checked "outside in a doghouse", the woman behind the counter blew up at me telling me they don't allow cruel people to adopt thier animals, who are kept in small enclosures with concrete floors and get the poop cleaned out every few days.
A heated argument ensued and I finally left. As I was going out the door a girl I went to school with who worked there told me I should have lied on the form and acted as if I would treat the dog better than my kids. She also told me my name would go in a file that forever forbids me from getting an animal from there. I went back years later and tried again but my friend was right. They had my name on file and I'm on the black ball list.
