| We have used them several times to fly to Florida and really like them. Locally they fly out of MidAmerica airport (BLV) in Belleville IL. It is so much easier than having to drive into St Louis and Lambert Field (STL). At BLV it usually only takes 15 minutes are so from the parking lot to sitting at your gate. The tickets are cheaper but they do charge additional for everything; from luggage to picking your seat ahead of time to a drink of water on the plane.
I don't know about the seats being any smaller than other airlines? My wife and I are both tall and we always pay extra for exit row seats for the added legroom. One trick we have used successfully several times is to book the window seat and the isle seat on the exit row. If the plane is not very full, other people are not as likely to pay extra to sit in the middle seat. Then we have the row to ourselves and can stretch out a little more. If someone does buy the middle seat one of us will take the middle seat and give them the isle or window seat.
One added perk with Allegiant is using their credit card. In addition to the normal "miles" from airline credit cards, if you stay 7 nights and book your rental car through Allegiant you buy 1 ticket and get one free. | |
