DO not beat yourself up over this. Technology is ever revolving and changing. You probably did more than 99% of the people for their parents. The other thing that slows down older people using new tech is they are scared of things that they do not understand.

I am working on this with my MIL.

The best process I have found to convince my MIL is for me to buy one of something and then use it. If you have positive uses, then figure out something they want to use the tech for. I bought my echo spot as a weather information, clock and other things. Well she liked that she could ask for the time at night without her glasses Where we live the weather is very important knowledge to know. Then she found out that she could get music from her growing up that she liked from the '30s, '40s and 50's streamed to her.

Funny this alexa echo spot is a brand new version from 2024. I have no idea what the older generations could do. I just know that this tech is useful and neat.
