I’ve had decent success with JB WELD “Tankweld” I would recommend removing the tank. Metal needs to be clean & dry. Usually, the tank will start leaking somewhere else in a year or two.
There are some products out there that you put in the tank to coat it. Problem I’ve heard with them is that eventually they start flaking off.
