Same here. 6011 for most everything. If it needs to look real pretty I will use the 7018 Lincoln brand rod to go back over.
6011 is just a general all around rod a little rust or paint won't hurt anything.
Most other rods you need clean metal. Never have any problems starting the 7018, just got to have the heat up.
