Alton, Ia | A bin is the fastest depreciating item you can invest in. 90% of your cost is going to be lost if you change down the road and want to sell or even move the bin. Choose wisely.
You mention 30-40k bin, the field does not look that large that you are going to fill it with 1/2 the crop grown there, but maybe it is. If you are hauling from another field, is there a spot there? Is there a strategic reason you are storing grain there vs a central facility, where you can invest in a dryer, and good grain handling equipment? There's a lot of advantages to being able to blend grain moistures.
I'm on gravel, 3 miles from hard surface road, 5 miles if you go straight to town. If I had it do over, I would not build a bin here, it would be on or very close to all weather roads.
If you do build there, I would second the centrifugal fan. But your still going to have late night activity, etc. that they are not planning on. They're going to get beeswings on their vehicles, dust, etc. It's going to happen. | |
